Ice Hockey in Portugal
Ice hockey in Portugal is overseen by the Winter Sports Federation of Portugal, and the country has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation since 1999. The Portuguese Men’s National Team made its debut in 2000, competing in a series of matches against the First Portuguese Canadian Cultural Center. After a period of inactivity, Portugal returned to the international scene in 2015 with two exhibition games against the Czech Lions. The team furthered its international experience in 2017 by participating in the inaugural Development Cup held in Canillo, Andorra. This overview highlights the history of the Men’s National Team.
