Journey to the World Junior Championship
The schedule leading up to the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship has been officially released, revealing that seven communities will serve as hosts for the matches taking place from December 19 to December 23. This exciting pre-tournament phase will feature a total of 11 games, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of junior hockey.
Ottawa serves as both the starting and finishing point for the event, with three games set to occur in the capital. Matches are also scheduled in Arnprior, Belleville, Brockville, Cornwall, Hawkesbury, and Kingston. Over the course of five days, every one of the ten teams will compete on the ice.
The opening games in Ottawa will provide an exciting opportunity for fans to witness Canada’s national team in action as they prepare for the upcoming competition. The match against Switzerland will kick off the series, followed by a highly anticipated showdown with Sweden. Following these encounters, the team will face Czechia at the Canadian Tire Centre on December 23. These games are crucial for the team’s development and strategy ahead of their next challenge.
Seven communities in Ontario will welcome competing teams from various countries for pre-tournament training camps in anticipation of the holiday hockey festivities.
